ABOUT YOGA NIDRĀ

Yoga nidrā is a guided, meditative practice that enables profound rest and relaxation. It systematically guides awareness through body and mind, helping to release tension, calm the nervous system, and access deeper states of consciousness. While it translates to “yogic sleep”, it is not about falling asleep (unless sleep is your intention), but rather about entering an effortless state of being — a threshold between wakefulness and sleep.

The yoga nidrās taught by me, Johanna Andersson, usually include breath awareness, intention settings, body scans, and gentle visualisations. The journeys are crafted around specific themes and offered in varying lengths to meet you where you are. Trust that the practice will give you exactly what you need, exactly when you need it.

Prepare for Rest

BEFORE PRACTICE

Please read through this FAQ before practising yoga nidrā with NIDRISTA, and don’t hesitate to reach out with any further questions.

All you need to practice is a quiet place to lie down — maybe on a yoga mat with a bolster or pillows under your knees, a pillow or folded blanket under your head, an eye mask or eye pillow to block out unwanted light, and a blanket to keep you warm.

AFTER PRACTICE

Coming out of deep rest may leave you feeling groggy or disoriented, but this usually fades within a few minutes. To gently reawaken your senses, try engaging them: inhale an invigorating scent (like peppermint essential oil), listen to soothing or uplifting sounds, taste something sweet (like fruit or chocolate), massage your ears, scalp, or feet, or step outside for fresh air and natural light.
